Why do we go to the roadhouse at the end of most episodes? I think it's because Lynch said this is one 18 hour film, but since it is broken up into 18 parts for Showtime, it has to end in less than an hour. I guess when Lynch gets to the 45 to 55 minute mark of each part and there isn't time or reason to go to another scene, he just ends the part in the roadhouse, where he gets to feature cool bands he likes. Another question is, were these shot and added later after each of the 18 parts were decided? Are the scenes with dialogue not important to the show, and are just used as boring everyday events? Are these scenes just filler to time out the episode with music for the credits to run over?
