Dick Tremayne, played by Ian Buchanan, is an Englishman of the older mould, and has a keen interest in self-preservation and his appearance, particularly his clothing. He does not appear in the earlier episodes. Dick is a selfish, pretentious man, whom Lucy Moran saw for a while on the side. He works at the Horne’s Department Store, in men's fashion. When he finds out Lucy is pregnant (and isn’t sure who is the father of the baby), he starts “helping” an orphan boy who needs a father figure named Nicky. Because of this, he has an ongoing rivalry with Deputy Andy Brennan.
